Yorkshire terrier pottyy training?

Are yorkies hard to potty train? my yorkie does great most of the time but once in a great while he will have an accidents! he is only 6-7 months old. give it a little more time?

I, and a lot of Yorkie owners I know, find these dogs to be incredibly difficult to housebreak. They are very independent, which sometimes translates into stubbornness, and to top it off, they will potty inside when they are angry at you.

Expect infrequent accidents until about 12-15 months. The best way to address it is with a very consistent routine. Take your puppy out every 3-4 hours. If he doesn’t use the bathroom right away, bring him in and put him in his cage for five minutes, then take him back out. Continue this until he will go on command. If your dog is alone for more than 4 hours, he should be in a cage, as he will not potty inside his cage. Remember to ALWAYS praise him after he goes outside no matter how old he is; your Yorkie loves it when you’re happy.
