How do i house train an adult, abused dog?

Back in November, I adopted a Shih Tzu who was abused by being screamed at, shaken, kicked, her tail was set on fire and she lived in a very tiny crate. She was also allowed to pee and poop wherever she wanted. SHe is now three years old and still goes inside the house. What are some tips for training an adult dog to go outside?

The process is very similar to the way you should be Training A Puppy. Create lots of opportunities for her to go outside, and experience success.
Praise her heavily. Find out what motivates her (treats? praise? hugs?)

Watch her like a hawk while she’s inside to minimize the chances of mistakes.
