Potty Training

How to start potty training? What do I do for the first day?

I want to start potty training my son. He is two and has just started expressing an interest in doing so. How do I start this process? I already have his potty sitting out and sometimes he will sit on it, but nothing happens. He used to sit on it right before he would take his bath, but either nothin would happen OR he will get up and then pee on his way into the bath tub. Go figure. How do I do this?

Well, he already know what the potty is, so that’s a good start. This may sound weird, but it worked for me. I started by putting the potty chair in a public area off the kitchen. I took him to the potty first thing in the morning. Then every twenty minutes through out the day. I always had a problem with him peeing in the tub. Then his great grandmother told me her trick. Pour a little warm water on their tummy. It gets them to pee if they have to go, then when they do go..make a big deal out of it. I put a sheet of paper up on the wall where he could reach it. I would give him stickers when he goes potty. Praise him a lot. The biggest thing of all? Don’t give up! It takes lots of patience to potty train, seems like more is needed with boys. Good luck!!
