Housebreaking Dogs

With the exception of housebreaking, what are some of the advantages of adopting older dogs instead of puppies

Older dogs are already past the “teething” stage, and are less likely to chew up your stuff than puppies.

Older dogs are usually more calm than puppies, and less prone to “nipping”.

Contrary to popular belief, older dogs are more easily trained in my opinion, because they’re less distractable and less hyper than puppies. I’ve been a volunteer at the Humane Society, working with dogs on their social skills and basic Obedience Training, and older dogs tend to learn much faster than puppies.

My own experience with fostering dogs and puppies has led me to believe that dogs are easier to housebreak than puppies, too. The puppies I’ve had have had many more accidents inside than the older dogs.
