Re: Don Sullivan’s Secrets to Training the Perfect Dog Infomercial. Has anyone had the same amazing results?

The infomercial shows testimonies of all sorts of problem dogs changing their behavior, as the show says, “Within minutes!” The owners look stunned and the dogs look really happy. Has anyone experienced these same kinds of results?

Yes, I did. It’s hard to believe, especially for those who have struggled for such a long time, trying this and that, but it truly works.

The DVDs are jammed packed with information – not only instructing you what to do, but also giving you a wealth of information behind why dogs behave the way they do, and the theory behind Don Sullivan’s method and techniques. (He’s really interesting to listen to, by the way; he makes sense, and he does demonstrations right there on camera with dogs he’s never worked with before, and the dogs are doing new stuff, yup, within minutes!).

It’s good, because you don’t have to watch everything on the DVDs to start working with your dog. The guide that comes with it tells you the key segments to watch first, and then you can go and watch the sections that are most relevant to your dog – over and over, if you like, to make sure it sinks in before you do it yourself. It’s easy to forget what the trainer has shown you at a training class, and books are boring, but what’s neat about the DVDs is that you never have to worry about forgetting anything or falling asleep!

Sorry, I digress. About your question: Even though your dog will stop jumping or bolting out the door or pulling on the leash within minutes with this system, it doesn’t mean it’s magic and that your dog will never ever do those kinds of things again from that point forward, in every single situation. But, what it does mean is that your dog will get the message and start responding very quickly, and then you just build on that until you reach your goal. For example, you might teach your dog to stay at the front door before you release him, within, say 10 minutes, but then the next time you work on this you add things like your kids walking in and out while he waits there, and that might take another 10 to 15 minutes. Then, the next day you might add leaving the door wide open while the kids and another dog run around in the front yard. Get it? So, it’s a kind of progression thing, so that by the end of a few weeks you can do all kinds of things like taking your dog for a run at the park without a leash and he’ll hang around near you without chasing the squirrels etc.

I know you may never exercise your dog on the grass by a busy road with trucks going by, like you see on the infomercial, but I guess the point of the show is that you could if you wanted to i.e. that this system helps you reach a level that you could never reach with anything else you tried.

Hope this helps.
