Dog Housebreaking

looking for a dog (housebreaking)trainer in dallas or north east texas?

My dog is 6 months old and needs to learn how to eliminate outside. I dont have the time or energy to show him so if anyone know a good trainer whom I could leave my dog with for about a week and train it to go outside to potty i would be very grateful. My budget is $200 or less.

Hmmm. It will likely take more than a week to train, especially if bad toilet habits are already in place. It would have been easier if you had started when he was first weaned. Now he’s built up at least four months of bad habits over 2/3rds of his lifetime.

$200 is a little low for this kind of intensive training. It’s below minimum wage and you’re asking for someone with special skills. Private trainers typically charge $100 per hour, and this type of training requires intensive supervision. It isn’t just an issue of showing him where to go, which is relatively easy, but showing him where not to go, which takes a lot of time and supervision.

Besides, in the end the problem is likely to resurface once the dog is back at your house anyway. Dogs don’t generalize well. A trainer might teach him not to do it in their house but he is unlikely to make the connection that he shouldn’t do it in any other house, including your own.

Sorry, but if he already has a potty problem in your house, that’s where it’s going to ultimately have to be resolved if it is to be resolved.
